Description
Parsons is seeking an amazingly talented Heavy Duty Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. In this role, you will get to support the Faro Mine Remediation in the Yukon.
What You’ll be Doing :
- Report defects and deficiencies.
- Carry out planned and scheduled maintenance work / inspections as required in a safe manner.
- To repair gasoline and diesel combustion engines, transmissions, differentials, planetary drives, hydraulic and air-actuated equipment, etc.
- Perform CVIP’s when required.
- Repair and replace vehicle electrical components and accessories on site equipment and support equipment when applicable (i.e. Caterpillar and Volvo HD Equipment, John Deer Powered Pumps, forklifts, highway trucks and trailers, telehandlers, man baskets (aerial platform) etc.)
- To set up hoisting equipment and facilities for the installation and / or removal of heavy attachments.
- To inspect and test repaired equipment, ensure safe and efficient operation, and assist in investigating accidents that may be attributable to mechanical defects.
- To requisition parts and supplies to maintain service and repair records and to report man-hours and materials user, troubles encountered, and corrective measures taken.
- Component rebuilds onsite, machine overhauls and mid-lifes, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on hydraulic and electrical faults.
- Ability to use Cat-programmed laptops for maintenance and troubleshooting with software such as CAT E.T. and CAT SIS.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring :
Interprovincial Journeyman On-road / Off-Road Heavy Duty Mechanic Certificate.Red Seal CertificationProven experience as a mechanic / technician in mining or industrial setting.Having a minimum of 5 years of experience in repairing all type of machinery listed above .Being able to read mechanical drawings and schematics and have knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, and welding.Being able to work in different types of environments (main garage, satellite garage, service truck)Must be physically fit and capable of cooperating and working effectively with other employees.Being able to work outside in Nordic cold temperatures.Class 1 license not required but preferred.Minimum Clearance Required to Start :
