Senior Associate Quality Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity at our Hollister, CA facility for a Senior Associate Quality Engineer. This role is responsible for executing and improving key QMS processes to drive improvements in FEUS processes and product quality, at a pace consistent with the needs of our strategic customers on-site at the Hollister site. This individual will work closely with the Manufacturing Process Engineers, Quality Control personnel, and Supplier Quality Engineer to identify and correct the root causes of unacceptable raw material, process, and / or product shifts.

Job Description

Key responsibilities for this role include :

  • Strong knowledge and experience as a quality assurance resource for data analysis, problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Support root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control. Interact with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
  • Actively lead and participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Support the manufacturing groups to design, implement, and document procedures for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection.
  • Support consistent metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring systems effectiveness. Interface with suppliers and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and ensure that effective corrective action is implemented.
  • Drive ISO-9001 initiatives in order to maintain certifications.
  • Lead the delivery of medium to large improvement projects through the implementation of Lean Six Sigma and project management tools.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Product management to identify and reduce sources of chronic customer complaints, manufacturing and laboratory quality issues, waste / scrap generation, and improve overall production inefficiencies.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the organization on Lean principles, by promoting the use of Six Sigma methodology (DMAIC, Kaizen, etc.)
  • Create key process flows and / or value stream maps.
  • Perform capability and other statistical assessments to meet organization goals in reducing process variability.
  • Drive problem solving methodologies (8D / MBPS) to find root cause of observed defects, devise a short-term contaminant strategy, and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurring problems, per internal and external customer expectations, including facilitating customer taskforce activities.
  • Facilitate and mentor team on FMEAs
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, or Quality Engineering, with specialization in Quality Systems and Statistics required.
  • Must have 15+ years of experience in QA systems, semiconductor industry preferred.
  • Must have experience as a quality assurance resource for data analysis, problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in design and development of new product introduction.
  • Strong knowledge and experience for problem solving techniques such as 5 Why's, Fishbone, Process mapping, etc., to identify root cause and define CAPA.
  • Working knowledge of PPAP APQP, VDAP preferred.
  • Certified Quality Auditor / Engineer preferred.
  • Six Sigma (DMAIC) - Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of JMP statistical software is especially desirable or equivalent, SAP knowledge helpful.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively (verbal / written / presentations) at all levels.
  • Visits to other manufacturing sites, supplier, and customer sites (including occasional overseas travel).
  • Must have excellent computer skills (Power-Point, Excel and statistical software tools).
  • Thorough understanding of general safety requirements.

  • Pay Range : The pay range for this role is estimated at $135,000 / yr. - $145,000 / yr. with actual wage based on candidate's qualifications and experience.
