Nursing Care Assistant II / Health Unit Coordinator - Duke Raleigh Hospital - Surgery Center

Schedule : FOUR, 10-hr shifts per pay period. Monday - Friday

6am to 4pm or 630am to 430pm

Unit Overview

The Duke Raleigh Surgery Center is a hospital based ambulatory surgery center located on the Duke Raleigh Hospital campus at 3300 Executive Drive. This specialty surgical platformhas4 procedure rooms including outpatient ophthalmology and other general surgery service lines, performing over 3400 patients annually.

Job Overview

Perform a variety of nonprofessional nursing duties in the direct care of patients under the direct supervision of a RN / LPN. Perform tasks within the scope of a nursing care assistant I and II as defined by the NC Board of Nursing.

Duties and Responsibilities

• In addition to duties outlined in NAI job description, the following duties may be performed : sterile dressing change for wounds over 48 hours old and wound irrigation; IV fluid assistance activities; oral / nasogastric feeding; urinary catheterization and irrigation; oxygen therapy, including room set-up and monitoring flowrate; break up and removal of fecal impaction; oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal suctioning; tracheotomy care; ostomy care, irrigation and annual skills validation.
• Participate in own professional development by maintaining required skills validation and attending educational offerings. Support the development of other staff and formal learners.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
