Construction Inspection Specialist (Flex Staff)
CDM Smith is looking for Inspectors to provide independent, professional construction inspection and oversight of federal construction projects with agencies such as USACE, AFCEC, and NAVFAC. This is a pipeline requisition for future projects. The Construction Inspection Specialist documents inspection findings and communicates issues to project leadership. The role requires applying broad professional knowledge of construction practices to meet client needs, clearly communicating project progress and issues to diverse functional teams and project leadership, and ensuring projects are delivered successfully, safely, and in compliance with applicable requirements. Work is performed independently under limited supervision.
Job Duties
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma
At least 5 years of relevant construction experience. Domestic travel is required. Overseas travel is also possible.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior Federal or DoD project experience (NAVFAC, USACE, or Air Force CE) is highly desirable
Experience in vertical (facilities / buildings) and horizontal (utilities, waterfront, airfield, infrastructure) construction is desired
Knowledge of federal acquisition and contracting practices.
Familiarity with UFGS specifications, UFC design criteria, and EM manuals.
Familiarity with electronic systems such as eCMS, RMS / QCS, or other QA tools.

Skills and Abilities
Must be a U.S. citizen.

Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Familiar and comfortable to work on computers / tablets / phones.
Strong technical writing and oral communication skills and ability to interface with contractors, engineers, and federal clients.

Ability to work independently in field conditions with minimal direction.
Good interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships with colleagues, customers, and partners.
Background Check and Drug Testing Information
CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as "CDM Smith") reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. Pay Range
Pay Range Minimum : $27.30
Pay Range Maximum : $54.60
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
Work Location Options
Successful candidate will be required to work 100% in the field locations.
