We are seeking a skilled Project Accountant to manage the financial aspects of diverse projects and drive process improvements. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with project-based accounting, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in advanced Excel functions.
Project Accountant Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Admin, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in construction or project accounting.
- Expertise in job costing, progress billing, and WIP reporting, including familiarity with AIA billing.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, especially pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
- Experience with ERP or accounting software.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with project teams and leadership.
- Must be comfortable working onsite within a small team-oriented environment.
Project Accountant Responsibilities :
Collaborate with project managers and senior leaders to monitor project budgets, forecast costs, and identify potential financial risks.Prepare, review, and submit AIA progress payments, ensuring all billing complies with contractual and project-specific requirements.Track and manage all aspects of project costs, including job costing and progress billing, and generate comprehensive monthly financial reports.Analyze WIP reports to assess project profitability and overall financial health, providing valuable insights to leadership.Verify subcontractor invoices and lien waivers, process payments accurately, and ensure all documentation is complete and timely.Develop and refine project accounting processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across all projects.Support and mentor junior accounting staff to foster best practices in construction and environmental project accounting.Liaise with external auditors, vendors, and clients to resolve complex financial issues and maintain strong working relationships.Offer strategic financial insights and recommendations to assist in decision-making at project and organizational levels.Perks & Benefits :
