The position is designed to align with UH Healths strategic initiatives addressing innovations in healthcare and healthcare delivery. This faculty member will help facilitate the evolving link between UH and HMAI for the purpose of designing, directing, and overseeing research projects that improve the teaching expertise provided by members of the UH College of Education, the UH Fertitta College of Medicine, the Houston Methodist Academic Institute, and other associated health professions Colleges at UH. This unique endowed professorship targets a learning scientist, health professions educator, or interprofessional educator with expertise in interprofessional medical education and with a track record of medical education research as evidenced by research funding and publications.
Qualifications . Successful candidates should be of high national prominence, able to elevate the stature of the University of Houston by bringing a record of achievements commensurate with or on a similar trajectory as those recognized by membership in the National Academy of Science, National Academy of Medicine, or another national academy related to the field of study. They must hold a Ph.D., Ed.D., M.D., D.O., or other related terminal degree. The candidate should have demonstrated accomplishments as a national thought leader in healthcare innovation and in preparation of healthcare professionals. The chair holder must be a new hire recruited to the University for the position consistent with University policies. Finally, the candidate should have a demonstrated record of extensive external funding and ability to secure grants or lead interdisciplinary research projects.
Responsibilities . Responsibilities include conducting innovative research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals; securing external funding to support an interdisciplinary program of research;
teaching in graduate and undergraduate courses; mentoring students, chairing and serving on doctoral committees; affiliating and actively engaging with the College of Medicine and the Houston Methodist Academic Institute; presenting research at professional meetings; and participating in service to the Department, College, University, and profession.
Appointment . This is a nine-month appointment. Review of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2026. Salary will be commensurate with the applicants qualifications and experience and will include benefits.
