Core Position Responsibilities :
- Work with a team of colleagues to further the mission of the school
- Support culturally responsive, data informed planning and instruction as a developing skill in teachers K-5
- Stay current with new content and information in a rapidly changing environment
- Collaborate with instructional leadership toward student success
- Observe, co-teach, and model classroom instruction as part of embedded professional learning, including the integration of data informed practices
- Coach and model specific intervention strategies, classroom expectations, program policies and procedures for classroom staff.
- Coach and model specific, culturally responsive, positive behavior management strategies, maximizing the use of instructional time on instruction
- Design opportunities for customization and differentiation, reflection, planning, and opportunities for peer-to-peer learning
- Work with School Admin to Facilitate weekly instructional planning meetings focusing on instruction and curriculum for classroom teams K-5
- Coordinate development and application of informal assessments and feedback in daily instruction, as part of a system of data informed instructional practices
- Coordinate the planning and proctoring of formal school wide assessments including Kindergarten readiness, NWEA and SBAC
- Work with School Admin to Analyze data as a part of the feedback cycle for individual teachers and whole school strategy
- Curate resources to customize curriculum for individual classrooms
- Hold student outcomes, aspirations, and involvement at the center of plans aimed to increase student growth and achievement
- Respect and draw upon students and adults as the 'directors of their own learning'
- Maintain a 'learner' orientation in partner and team interactions, and contribute to the development of a successful 'continuous improvement organization'
- Facilitate regular individual coaching sessions with individual teachers using and interpreting video and data for continuous improvement of classroom management
- Collaborate with instruction team members to create strategies and interventions for classroom-wide use
- Participate in coaching meetings, leadership team meetings and PLC meetings
- Support the practice and implementation of skills / strategies presented in classroom presentations, school-wide training and / or outside agency presentations / trainings
- Participate in continuous improvement practices including observation, reflection and collaboration
- Participate in professional development to facilitate growth of each student, staff member and the organization overall
- Participate in the school wide communication of instruction goals and perspectives with families
- Attend several KairosPDX staff and family events
- Participate in supervising students during recess and other non-class times
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Teacher Qualifications :
Valid TSPC license for the grade level(s) taughtDocumentation of "Highly Qualified Teacher Status" under the No Child Left Behind ActBachelor's Degree; Master's, preferredDemonstrated ability to manage a classroomAt least one or two years of experience teaching in an elementary classroom; three to five years of experience preferredAt least one or two years relevant experience working with children from diverse racial and cultural backgroundsTraining in early education and / or human development, preferredExperience working with children ages 5 to 11, preferredTraining and / or experience with at least one special population such as special needs children, Talented and Gifted children, and / or English Language Learners, preferredEffective interpersonal skills in managing and interacting with diverse groups of stakeholdersExcellent time management and organizational skillsDemonstrated ability to manage conflict through equitable decision-making and effective problem solvingWillingness to learn about and adapt to KairosPDX cultureOpen to learning and practicing a constructivist approach to teaching and learningCommitment to culturally relevant practicesCommitment to professional reflection and ongoing collaborationShare KairosPDX's stance that excellent public education is a civil right of all children and familiesPossess a passion for helping each child reach his or her social, emotional and academic potential including a commitment to differentiated instruction and ongoing assessmentCurrent Food Handlers Card and CPR First Aid Certificate required (cost paid by applicant)Ability to pass a criminal background checkKnowledge & Skills :
