Job description

Phaidon is seeking a full-time Publicity Assistant based in New York City to provide publicity support and execute PR campaigns for books on art, design, architecture, culinary, and children’s titles. The candidate will report directly to the Publicity Director of Phaidon and will work across all categories in Phaidon’s catalog.

A successful candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated to meet deadlines, and adept at working in a fast-paced, dynamic publishing environment. This fantastic opportunity offers a chance to work with experts in their fields, including influential artists, designers, architects, chefs, and photographers.

Phaidon offers a hybrid work environment with the ability to work from home on Mondays and Fridays. This position will require three days per week in our new office downtown. A laptop will be provided for work from home days.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide administrative support to the Publicity Manager and Senior Publicist
  • Maintain publicity clips and press quotes
  • Handle all book mailings in New York office, and warehouse mailings while remote
  • Draft press materials in InDesign
  • Coordinate with the UK’s Junior Press Officer to draft a bi-monthly Global Publicity Report
  • Use Muck Rack to build and maintain media lists
  • Manage the awards program and track submissions
  • Submit seasonal announcements to trade publications
  • Assist with research projects and social media platforms
  • Attend author events virtually and in-person, once no longer remote
  • Coordinate author tour details
  • Creatively pitch press for books, authors, and brand coverage

Qualifications :

  • Strong interest in book publicity at a leading art publisher
  • Genuine interest in art, design, and cookery books
  • Previous internship or administrative experience preferred
  • Must be able to prioritize, multi-task, and manage time effectively
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable responding to a variety of calls from authors, media, to event partners
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and InDesign experience
