Job Summary :

The Project Process Engineer II is responsible for designing, optimizing, and managing process systems to enhance efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards. This mid-level professional will lead engineering projects aimed at improving manufacturing processes, production systems, and operational workflows. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with effective project management and problem-solving skills, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable process improvements and cost reductions.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and optimize process systems to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality and performance.
  • Analyze existing workflows and recommend data-driven modifications for productivity enhancement.
  • Perform process simulations, modeling, and data analysis using tools such as Aspen Plus, MATLAB, or similar software.
  • Plan, execute, and manage engineering projects focused on process improvement, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to meet material, equipment, and technical requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Work cross-functionally with production, maintenance, quality, and R&D teams to address process-related challenges.
  • Develop and execute testing plans to validate process changes and ensure system reliability and safety.
  • Conduct root cause analyses, troubleshoot issues, and propose technical solutions to process inefficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including OSHA, ISO, GMP, and FDA requirements.
  • Prepare detailed engineering documentation such as process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Design of Experiments (DOE), 8D, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in process engineering and manufacturing.

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline required.

Master’s degree preferred but not required.

Experience :

1–3 years of experience in process engineering with an emphasis on process optimization and project management.

Experience in manufacturing, chemical processing, energy, or pharmaceutical industries preferred.

Required Skills :

  • Proficiency in process design tools and software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and MATLAB.
  • Strong understanding of process control systems, instrumentation, and automation technologies.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a results-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Preferred Skills / Certifications :

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) license.
  • Certification : Project Management Professional , Professional Engineer
