Job descriptionBachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field. Minimum 5 years' experience formulating water-based adhesives. Knowledge of paperboard and food-grade packaging preferred. Strong problem-solving, leadership, and cross-functional teamwork skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to travel up to 20%. Base Salary : $135,600 – $152,550 Bonus : 12.5% target annual bonus Full relocation package offered
Title : Technical Associate
Location : Hartsville, SC (On-site)
Reports To : Technology Senior Director
Overview :
The Technical Associate will conceive, design, and test new adhesive and coating products, ensuring successful transfer to production and commercialization. This position supports Sonoco's Adhesive Division, focusing on innovation, quality improvement, and cost reduction in water-based adhesive formulations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and test new water-based adhesive and coating formulations.
- Conduct production trials and support commercialization at customer sites.
- Partner with Sales and Business Development to identify new opportunities and evaluate technical feasibility.
- Use Lean, Six Sigma, and analytical tools to improve product performance and reduce costs.
- Support Supply Chain in qualifying raw material vendors.
- Lead or assist Quality in root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Maintain intellectual property records and pursue patents or trade secrets when applicable.
- Communicate project status and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
