About The Position

Job Title : Emergency Room Nurse

Profession : RN

Specialty : Emergency Services

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 7P-7A

Hours per Shift : 12

Experience : Minimum of 2 years required; 5 years preferred

License : RN license required

Certifications : CPR, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG, TNCC, PALS required

Must-Have :

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred

Description :

Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process within established standards and practices.

Assesses and reassesses patients of all age groups and applies the nursing process as appropriate.

Care for patients in emergent and non-emergent situations.

Manages airway, pain, cardiac monitoring, and invasive procedures as necessary.

Assists with specialized procedures, including temporary pacemakers, cardioversion, defibrillation, and wound repair.

Uses specialized equipment in the care of emergency patients.

Manages code situations effectively.

Administers IV therapy, infusion therapy, and medications.

Conducts ECG strip analysis and interpretation.

Provides discharge follow-up education and care.

Maintains accurate and detailed nursing documentation, including patient histories and assessments.

Treats patients and their families with dignity and respect.

Identifies and addresses the psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families.

Functions as a patient advocate.

Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan.

Interacts professionally with patients and families, involving them in care planning.

Formulates and evaluates teaching plans based on identified learning needs.

Supervises other healthcare staff involved in patient care.

Responds promptly to changes in workload to achieve productivity and efficiency.

Participates in performance improvement activities aimed at enhancing patient outcomes.

Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees.

Contributes to professional growth through participation in educational programs and in-service meetings.

Maintains operation of patient care equipment and ensures a sufficient supply of medical supplies.

Demonstrates the ability to remain organized and function under stressful situations.

Adheres to medical center policies regarding infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Serves as a team leader and role model for other staff members.
