Overview
Neurosurgery Communications Program Manager
University of Colorado School of Medicine seeks a talented full-time Neurosurgery Communications Program Manager to support and implement communication strategies promoting the Department of Neurosurgery. The role covers social media and website management, blog writing, graphic design, event promotions, public relations, and content creation that is accurate, current, and aligned with CU brand messaging. This hybrid position requires 2-3 days per week in the office connecting with leaders, physicians, researchers, and staff in the Department of Neurosurgery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage a communications plan in partnership with the School of Medicine.
- Develop a new strategic plan to lead all communications efforts for the Department of Neurosurgery.
- Prepare, implement, and coordinate internal and external communications.
- Maintain an editorial calendar for communications activities, monitor content and social media.
- Develop and update visual assets / graphics for communications channels and collateral materials.
- Pursue public relations opportunities and monitor media placements.
- Manage and track communications budget.
- Track and report quarterly the effectiveness of communications channels, monitor reach and engagement, and identify opportunities to expand reach.
- Write and develop blog stories by connecting with faculty, trainees, and staff.
- Increase reach to audiences by sharing stories / blogs in a timely manner.
- Develop and manage email and social media communications, including implementing and managing email platforms and social media channels and producing a social media editorial content calendar.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and track the effectiveness of digital campaigns; create videos and graphics for social media and email campaigns; organize and segment email marketing lists.
- Maintain website in collaboration with the department web liaison; manage content, look, and functionality; update existing content and generate new content; perform SEO; ensure accessibility and standards.
- Build and maintain relationships with department leaders, faculty, trainees, and staff; collaborate with CU Anschutz Medical Campus partners and identify best practices in communications.
Work Location
Hybrid – 2 days per week on campus with in-person meetings as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, marketing, communications, public or media relations, journalism, or related fields.4-6 years of experience in communications, public relations, social media, or marketing.Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.Applicants selected for interviews may be asked to provide work samples (3-5 social media posts and at least 2 blog articles).Preferred Qualifications
Experience with project management, prioritization, timelines, and on-time deliverables.Communications experience in a university or large hospital system environment.Training in social media strategy, web writing, SEO, CMS, HTML, and video editing.Experience with Sitefinity, HubSpot, graphic design, and video editing.Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Screening / Pay
Screening begins immediately and continues until 10 / 09 / 2025. Anticipated pay range : 65,105 – 82,813 USD. The position is not eligible for overtime compensation. Total compensation includes benefits; details provided by CU.
