The Opportunity

In this role you will have the opportunity to :

  • Function as a technical Lead substation design engineer for FACTS projects involving distribution, sub transmission and transmission level voltage classes.
  • Utilize resources available for safety and regulatory standards to define project requirements and review deliverables.
  • Work on non-standard aspects of design and research required standards.
  • Convey technical information to the project team.
  • Lead internal discussions with owner engineering team.

    • Candidates must be located or willing to relocate to any Black & Veatch U.S. Regional Office.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and guide design knowledge, provide technical guidance.
  • Apply knowledge and ensure compliance with quality program.
  • Prepare engineering deliverables and manage budget, schedule.
  • Coordinate with internal / external team members on moderately complex projects.
  • Assist with client interests for high voltage substation projects.
  • Provide technical specialist consultation and mentoring.
  • Mentor lower level professionals and manage succession.
  • Support resource management strategy and administrative responsibilities.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • High voltage substation design experience – Physical and / or Protection & Controls.
  • Project lead and technical specialist experience overseeing utility substation clients and projects.
  • QA / QC Reviews – Quality Assurance / Quality Checks.
  • Experience coordinating and communicating with Clients, Multidisciplinary Leads and Project Managers.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Proficient with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Programs.

    • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • Must complete pre-employment onboarding requirements.

    • Work Environment / Physical Demands

    Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion.

    Salary Plan

    Engineering Grade 016.
