Job Summary : Job incumbent performs patient scheduling and front office management activities for patients requiring dental care.

Essential Functions

Representative Duties : Under direct supervision of the Dental Front Desk Supervisor job incumbent will :
1. Handle multiline phone system, answer questions, and route calls; schedule and manages appointments, minimizing unused clinic time. Responsible for calling patients with appointment reminders and post-op calls.
2. Greet patients entering the dental suite and address them as they leave.
3. Assembles patient charts.
4. Responsible for scanning dental records into patients charts.
5. Perform clerical duties including but not limited to photocopying, emailing and faxing documents.
6. Prepares patient's records and supportive documents for dentist review.
7. Updates patient registration and third party information and confirms patent's eligibility for care.
8. Assists Medical Records with dental record requests.
9. Submits travel services authorizations in Athena for patients in the village
10. Coordinates appointments for Medicaid patients who need prior authorizations for travel with the dental Prior Authorization Specialist.
11. Must maintain strict confidentiality.
12. Must work collaboratively as part of a patient-oriented team with awareness of how employee represents the Dental team.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Two years of experience working in a dental office.
3. Computer experience proficiency using Microsoft Office applications.
4. Dentrix and Athena experience preferred.
5. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced stressful environment.
6. Familiar with Medicaid prior-authorization preferred.
7. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements and State of Alaska background check.

Supervision : This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Supervision
Physical Demands : Requirements of those normal office type work with extended hours of sitting and operation of standard office and computer equipment. Position requires recurring bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching and stretching. Job incumbent may be required at times to lift up to forty pounds. Incumbent must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a busy and sometimes stressful environment.
Work environment : Work involves regular and recurring exposure to communicable diseases, and occasionally hostile patients.
