General Summary :

Qualcomm is looking for a Director / Sr Director, Product Management – modem technology and solutions for its Industrial and Embedded IoT Business Unit to define and promote Qualcomm modem technology and chipsets for both traditional and emerging use cases in various IoT segments. Successful candidate will contribute to the definition of the modem solutions portfolio strategy, will evaluate business opportunities, perform gap analysis, will define product requirements, drive execution, and define the go-to-market plans and global customer engagements.

The position requires, beside strong technical expertise, expertise in business and systems analysis, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate and influence key stakeholders across various Qualcomm functional teams.

Key Responsibilities :

Gather market requirements, competitive information, and analyze technology trends to help formulate the IOT modem portfolio strategy

Define solutions that are differentiated when enabled by Qualcomm IOT chips and that maximize the value add of Qualcomm modems

Define the business case for new IOT modems and draft corresponding product requirement specifications

Drive the execution of select IOT modem programs throughout the product life cycle

Engage customers, both direct and indirect, to promote QC IOT modem solutions

Contribute to revenue forecasts and design pipeline tracking

Review customer RFPs, feature and performance requests, assess technical feasibility at system level, prepare proposal and solution, and define execution plan.

Independently complete tasks that require multiple steps that can be performed in various orders; tasks require simultaneously executing multiple cognitive abilities and maintaining information in short- or long-term memory.

Exercising exceptional creativity to innovate new ideas and develop innovative products / processes without established objectives or known parameters.

This is an office-based position that will be expected to comply with the company's onsite work policy. While the preferred location is San Diego, CA, Santa Clara, CA can also be considered.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Humanities, or related field.

8+ years of Product Management or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications :

Master degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

10+ years of Product Management and / or related work experience in Engineering, with focus on 3GPP modem technologies.

Proficient in 4G, LPWA and 5G technologies and related products.

Solid understanding of non-3GPP radio technologies : WiFi, Bluetooth, LoRA, GNSS, satellite radios.

Understanding of various wired peripherals interface, standards, and related protocols

Understanding of SW solution for edge-to-cloud communication, with emphasis on the edge.

Experience with TinyML and AI solutions for the IOT.

Customer engagement experience with understanding of entire product cycle from definition to commercialization to maintenance.

Understanding of location technologies and end-to-end realization of solutions for geo-location.

Effective communication skills with cross functional teams, both technical and non-technical, within a fast-paced, collaborative, innovative environment, including experience in discussing complex ideas with partners, customers, and executives.

Compensation :

$196,000.00 - $294,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
