Job description

Respiratory Therapist – DME

Location : Richmond, VA

Schedule : Monday–Friday, Full-Time, with rotating On-Call duties (otherwise no weekends)

Note : Overtime may occasionally be required based on patient needs or service demands.

We are seeking a professional, compassionate, and self-motivated Respiratory Therapist to deliver outstanding patient care and customer service while supporting our clinical and business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care and patient education for infants, children, and adults in both clinical and home settings.
  • Train patients and caregivers on the safe and effective use of respiratory and enteral equipment.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide after-hours support for urgent respiratory needs and equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with discharge planners, case managers, and physicians to ensure smooth transitions of care.
  • Conduct follow-up visits to verify patient compliance and satisfaction.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Participate in professional education and represent Medi-Rents at healthcare events and trainings.
  • Support business growth by fostering strong relationships with referral sources and healthcare partners.

Qualifications

  • Current or eligible Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia.
  • Minimum Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Personable, adaptable, and team-oriented with a drive for excellence.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation (typically evenings / weekends on a scheduled basis).
  • Ability to work occasional overtime to meet patient or operational needs.
