As a Billing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing the entire billing process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with both legal and client requirements. Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other staff members to gather and verify billing information. Review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests. Apply retainer funds as directed by attorney. Process write-offs following the firm's policy and approval process. Prepare and distribute invoices to clients, and follow up on any delayed payments. Reconcile billing accounts to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted. Generate reports detailing account receivable status on a regular basis. Implement and maintain billing procedures to streamline processes and improve efficiency. Handle client inquiries regarding billing issues professionally and promptly. Train and mentor billing team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in legal billing or a similar role. Strong knowledge of invoicing and reconciling procedures. Proficiency in legal billing software and Microsoft Office Suite. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex billing issues. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to mentor and motivate a team. Knowledge of legal procedures and terminology is a plus.
