Title : Broadcast Engineer
QUALIFICATIONS : Basic Requirements : o 2+ years of experience in a television broadcast environment or an equivalent o combination of education and experience o BS degree in Engineering, Communications, or a related field or equivalent relevant o experience Desired Characteristics : o Proficiency with broadcast production systems and software, including audio consoles, intercom systems, video switchers, wireless audio, server-based playout, and test and measurement equipment o Understanding of TCP / IP networks o Knowledge of digital TV (HDSDI) o Proficiency in software-driven broadcast video equipment o Ability to read and understand system signal flow diagrams for television control room and studio facilities o Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and focused under the pressures of live television o Strong hands-on problem-solving skills with broadcast-related equipment and systems o Understanding of the urgent needs of on-air sports and the ability to remain productive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment o Ability to support a 24x7 production environment o Willingness and ability to learn new production technologies o Preferred experience in live production environments o Knowledge of computer server installation and maintenance o Specific experience with : Sony cameras and switchers EVS Servers, IP Director, XSquare Evertz and Grass Valley routing RTS Intercom Calrec audio consoles Tektronix and Leader test and measurement systems Knowledge of SMPTE 2110 standards Experience in system design, AutoCAD, and project management Understanding of wireless audio and communication technologies Experience with 1080P and 4K HDR production Comms Systems (RTS ADAM / Omneo) knowledge Experience with Avid Media Composer Experience with Avid Interplay Experience with Comms Systems (RTS ADAM / Omneo) Proficient in Chyron graphic systems Strong customer focus with a commitment to delivering high-quality technical support Self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines and work effectively both independently and as part of a team Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to diplomatically engage with colleagues across various departments Additional Requirements : o Willingness to work overtime, including nights and weekends o Must be willing to work in Stamford, CT o Must be willing to submit to a background investigation o Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States o Required On-Site : This position is required to be performed full-time from an o NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
Responsibilities :
The Production / Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for providing front-line broadcast engineering and technical support across multiple studios and control rooms within the Stamford Sports facility. The role involves supporting all broadcast systems and technology for live day-of-air programs, troubleshooting hardware and systems, complying with computer security policies, and managing projects that include system design, integration, and commissioning. This position requires a combination of maintenance and project management / system engineering skills. The support needs span seven days a week, with certain periods requiring availability as part of a 24x7 schedule. Responsibilities : o Perform system-level troubleshooting of technical facilities, including control rooms, o studio equipment, audio equipment, and associated computer systems o Conduct preventative maintenance on studio and control room equipment o Assist Studio Operations with technical setup in control rooms and studios o Collaborate with production and operations teams to implement technical solutions o that meet production initiatives o Install and update equipment and systems software o Repair and troubleshoot equipment to the module level using industry-standard test o equipment o Manage projects, design systems, and assist with system integration and o commissioning
