Security Officer I

Pay Range: $23.00-$25.00

Schedule: Saturday-Wednesday (4:30am-1:00am)

Summary:

Provides security services for residents and employees of the organization. Protects from and responds to fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties.

Detailed responsibilities:
* Security I
- Provides quality Customer Service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction
- Patrols, periodically, outside grounds of campus and lobbies, corridors and public rooms, access points of the facility to ensure safety and security of residents and staff
- Responds to fire alarms, emergency call switch activation and other emergencies
- Graciously warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and devises, reports or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts
- Investigates and completes resident loss reports and incident reports, gives copies to supervisor and maintains a file on them
- Keeps accurate log of shift activities
- Occasionally performs emergency janitorial duties and sets thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms
- Familiar with all disaster, fire and other emergency procedures as outlined in facility disaster plan
- Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner Wears PPE/safety equipment as required for the job Reports any safety hazards and/or accidents to supervisor
- Follows department safety standards, practice body mechanic techniques and participate in campus-wide safety programs

- All employees are required to follow safe work habits in order to prevent injuries to themselves, residents, visitors or other employees

* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Credentials:

Nonessential:
* Security Guard Card

Education with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* High School diploma or GED
