Overview
We are seeking a Customer Accounts Specialist to join our client's Revenue Cycle Management team in Livermore, California. This individual will manage inbound patient billing inquiries, resolve outstanding balances, and ensure a positive customer experience while maintaining compliance with company standards and HIPAA regulations.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of medical billing, insurance processes, and EOB interpretation, along with exceptional communication and problem-solving skills. This is a fully onsite position-remote or hybrid work is not available.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle up to 50 inbound patient calls daily, providing courteous, professional assistance with billing and account inquiries.
- Review and reconcile patient accounts, ensuring accuracy of statements and timely resolution of unpaid balances.
- Interpret Explanations of Benefits (EOBs) and Remittance Advices (RAs) to explain payment details and claim outcomes.
- Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Process credit card payments, refunds, and hardship applications in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all collection activities.
- Submit adjustment requests and assist with month-end close processes.
- Support compliance with HIPAA, company SOPs, and other applicable regulations.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.2+ years of experience in medical billing, patient accounts, or revenue cycle environments.Strong working knowledge of insurance billing, Medicare / Medicaid, and commercial payer processes.Proficiency in interpreting EOBs and explaining billing methodologies to patients.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional phone demeanor.Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Preferred Qualifications
Post-secondary education or medical billing certification.Prior experience within a healthcare provider, medical group, or billing office.Familiarity with CRM tools or patient account systems.Working knowledge of HIP nd Affordable Care Act compliance.Core Competencies
