MRI Student Technologist
The Student MRI Technologist works under direct supervision of a Staff Technologist at all times until approved for MRI safety by the Chief MRI Technologist.
At that point the position is required to have indirect supervision during the assigned shift by a MRI Technologist, as well as being responsible for working directly with patients and assisting radiologists and / or staff physicians while performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations in concordance with Physicians orders. The Student MRI Technologist shall be responsible for the operation of MRI scanners, flow rate injectors, patient monitoring systems. This position is responsible for the use of radiographic supplies including gadolinium contrast while providing patient care and patient safety as established by department standards. The Student MRI Technologist is responsible for clearing all images with a MRI Technologist prior to submission to the Radiologists for interpretation. This position is responsible for performing a variety of basic secretarial, clerical and housekeeping functions such as customer service, examination and work area cleaning, telephone communications, computer system data entry, information retrieval, (HIS, RIS, PACS), and infection control. Based upon documentation from their institution, the MRI Student Technologist shall be deemed competent in the following areas of MRI and MRA. Exams include routine brain, spine, musculoskelital and angiography studies of the neck, brain, thorax, abdomen and extremities. This position, in addition to superb technical skills, will also require the ability to follow the CRMC service commitments to customers and fellow staff.
Additional Education Requirements
Currently enrolled as a student in good standing of an AMA approved school of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Additional Experience Requirements
Registered Radiological Technologist and in good standing.
