Job Summary
America Reads students are oriented and trained to provide children, in grades 1st through 3rd grade, with one-on-one instruction in reading, phonics, and comprehension. Tutoring sessions are designed to assist elementary school children with improving their reading skills. A position as an America Reads tutor has the potential to be extremely fun and rewarding for the tutors and the students both.
This internship opportunity will have an employee supervisor guiding and mentoring student throughout the experience. Student and Supervisor must review learning goals and objectives and participate in a formal meeting at the midpoint and end of the semester to discuss and complete Student Evaluation and Employer Evaluation.
By the end of the internship, student will have gained valuable practical experience, learned how to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings, and experienced real life challenges and situations.
