Manager, Learning and Development- The Auto Club Group

This position is currently able to work remotely from a home office location for day-to-day operations unless occasional travel for meetings, collaborative activities, or team building activities is specified by leadership. This is subject to change based on amendments and / or modifications to the ACG Flex Work policy.

What You Will Do

Manage the learning and development activities within an assigned unit. Responsible for programs that support one or more of the following disciplines : Membership, Travel, Insurance Operations & Distribution, Claims, Financial Services, Life Insurance, Leadership Development and Career Development. Manage the team responsible for planning, designing, developing, implementing, delivering, and analyzing training and development programs targeted to meet the needs of the business unit. Manage activities to implement effective in-person, virtual and web-based learning solutions. May manage contractors tasked with working on various learning and development initiatives.

Maintain positive work relationships with operations and corporate partners. Work with management and business partners to conduct needs assessments with the goal of identifying development opportunities. Provide insight on operational issues in which employee development opportunities exist. Promote a performance consulting mentality by working with the line of business to establish annual training goals, plans and metrics to support corporate goals and initiatives. Develop and approve learning solutions to support business needs. Ensure that programs and initiatives positively impact employee development, member retention and the overall corporate environment. Monitor, analyze and report on the return on investment for various training and development initiatives. Review current processes and procedures used to monitor activities and make recommendations for improvements.

Administer corporate and departmental policies and procedures within assigned team. Monitor results to ensure that standards are maintained and consistent with strategic goals and objectives. Recommend and implement improvements to processes and services provided. Create and monitor departmental budgets.

Handle special projects as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities include participating in the process of selecting, hiring, training, development, counseling and disciplining assigned staff in accordance with corporate Human Resource policies and procedures. Manage a team of Instructional Designers, Learning Consultants and Learning Specialists.

Required Qualifications

Education (include minimum education and any licensing / certifications) : Bachelor's degree in Education, Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Instructional Design, or a related field.

Experience :

  • Designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for adult learners using a variety of media or instructional delivery methodologies
  • Needs assessment and task analysis
  • Utilizing authoring tools, multi-media, computer-based training, interactive video, or on-line reference tools
  • Conducting cost / benefit analysis
  • Project management
  • Preparation of instructional materials and proposals
  • Creating process improvements
  • Knowledge of :

  • Training methods and techniques
  • Statistical methods and performance analysis
  • Skills & Ability to :

  • Management ability to include : leading and motivating a claims support team, workforce planning, coaching, developing and discipling staff, identification of training needs for team members, conflict resolution, managing change with minimal disruptions, handling budgets for cost-effective operations

  • Preferred Qualifications

    Education : Master Degree or formal certification in Performance Consulting
