American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma ICU position with night shifts and required trauma ICU experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an Adult ICU Pod within an acute care hospital settingUnit includes SICU, MICU, and Trauma ICU with a total of 120 bedsLevel 1 Trauma Center with a diverse patient population : trauma, post-surgical, medical, transplant, and critical care casesRNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry stripsCommon titratable and set rate drips managedVentilators in use include Cervo I, Jets, and OscillatorsICU travelers may be floated to any ICU area or to MedSurg / Tele units, including St. Joseph Westgate campus12-hour night shifts (7pm-7am), with 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeksSelf scheduling is allowed, though shifts may be rebalanced by scheduling staffUses Cerner EMRSIMs Lab pass / fail testing on sterile technique (Foley catheter insertion, central line dressing change) is required on day 1 of orientationNurses must demonstrate and maintain sterile field competence; inability to do so may result in separationBedside procedures may include bronchoscopy, tracheostomy, and hemodialysis catheter placementCommon patient diagnoses include sepsis, GI bleeds, DKA, trauma, transplants, and post-OR recoveryIntensivist and respiratory therapists are available 24 / 7 in the ICUDress code : navy scrubs, natural hair color only, no facial piercings, men must be clean-shaven for fit testingHoliday shifts are rotated with core staff based on unit needsTravel teams must provide their own transportationCandidates may not have been directly employed by the affiliated health system within the past yearA 50-mile radius rule applies for eligibility, verified with the address on the driver's license\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent ICU experience requiredMust have previous experience in a 600+ bed teaching facilityCertifications required : ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (all active at time of consideration)Must have Level 1 trauma ICU experienceMust pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with up to 2 attempts2 professional references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 yearsMust have or be willing to obtain experience with ventilators and telemetry monitoringDriver’s license required for radius verification\n Benefits\n
