American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma ICU position with night shifts and required trauma ICU experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an Adult ICU Pod within an acute care hospital setting
  • Unit includes SICU, MICU, and Trauma ICU with a total of 120 beds
  • Level 1 Trauma Center with a diverse patient population : trauma, post-surgical, medical, transplant, and critical care cases
  • RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips
  • Common titratable and set rate drips managed
  • Ventilators in use include Cervo I, Jets, and Oscillators
  • ICU travelers may be floated to any ICU area or to MedSurg / Tele units, including St. Joseph Westgate campus
  • 12-hour night shifts (7pm-7am), with 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
  • Self scheduling is allowed, though shifts may be rebalanced by scheduling staff
  • Uses Cerner EMR
  • SIMs Lab pass / fail testing on sterile technique (Foley catheter insertion, central line dressing change) is required on day 1 of orientation
  • Nurses must demonstrate and maintain sterile field competence; inability to do so may result in separation
  • Bedside procedures may include bronchoscopy, tracheostomy, and hemodialysis catheter placement
  • Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, GI bleeds, DKA, trauma, transplants, and post-OR recovery
  • Intensivist and respiratory therapists are available 24 / 7 in the ICU
  • Dress code : navy scrubs, natural hair color only, no facial piercings, men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
  • Holiday shifts are rotated with core staff based on unit needs
  • Travel teams must provide their own transportation
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed by the affiliated health system within the past year
  • A 50-mile radius rule applies for eligibility, verified with the address on the driver's license
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
  • Must have previous experience in a 600+ bed teaching facility
  • Certifications required : ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (all active at time of consideration)
  • Must have Level 1 trauma ICU experience
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with up to 2 attempts
  • 2 professional references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
  • Must have or be willing to obtain experience with ventilators and telemetry monitoring
  • Driver’s license required for radius verification
