As an Individual Behavior Support Specialist , your primary role will focus on guiding and implementing positive behavior support strategies for assigned student(s), fostering their success and enhancing their overall experience. You will prioritize proactive strategies and be equipped to manage crisis situations, applying de-escalation techniques as needed.
Key Responsibilities :
- Implement individualized and group interventions to promote academic and social-emotional outcomes.
- Reinforce positive behaviors and redirect negative behaviors utilizing effective strategies.
- Keep accurate records related to behavior strategies and modifications.
- Collect and analyze behavioral data to track progress and collaborate with IEP teams.
- Support classroom staff in behavior management and individual student monitoring.
- Apply applied behavior analysis techniques under the guidance of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.
- Conduct behavioral observations to inform assessments and intervention plans.
- Assist teachers with instructional activities and manage classroom dynamics.
- Respond to crisis situations quickly and safely, ensuring minimal disruption to the learning environment.
- Complete documentation of behavioral incidents while maintaining confidentiality.
- Follow emergency protocols and adhere to safety measures at all times.
- Participate actively in team meetings and ongoing professional development.
- Assist with student supervision during various school activities.
- Travel between multiple locations as necessary for support.
- Engage in special projects to enhance organizational effectiveness.
Qualifications :
Associate's degree or higher in a related field.Active credential as a paraprofessional or similar educational support role.While not mandatory, obtaining a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential is preferred.Valid state driver's license.Ability to obtain certification in crisis management training.Experience working with children in special education or behavioral health settings.Strong skills in supporting individuals with learning disabilities and emotional disturbances.Familiarity with positive behavior interventions and planning measures.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Proficiency in technology and office software.ChanceLight Education is the nation's leading provider of special education services, transforming the lives of over 240,000 students through innovative educational programs.
