A minimum of 2 years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. • Work 3 12-hour shifts per week with 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
• Patient ratio of 6 : 1 on 34-bed post-operative medical / surgical unit
• Tech support available on day and night shifts, unit secretary coverage 7 : 00 AM to 7 : 00 PM
• Use Meditech documentation system
• Work with equipment including IV pumps, telemetry, SCD's, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanner, and iMobile communication technology
• Must have medical / surgical experience and ability to prioritize care and multitask
• Required skills include starting IVs, basic wound care, maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
• Provide bedside shift report and make personal connections with patients and family members
• Include patients and family members in their plan of care with attentive and compassionate care
• Required certifications : Active RN license and BLS certification
• Dress code requires navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)
