Utility Maintenance Technician / Helper (Multiple Openings – Orange County, FL)

Locations : Orlando (32824, 32825), Apopka (32703)

Schedule : Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 7 : 00 AM – 4 : 00 PM (some roles 7 : 00 AM – 3 : 30 PM)

Pay : $17.65 – $18.00 / hr

Job Type : Temporary with the potential to become permanent

Overview :

We are currently hiring Utility Maintenance Technicians and Helpers for various Orange County locations, including Orlando (32824 & 32825) and Apopka (32703) . These roles involve maintaining, repairing, and supporting water, sewer, and stormwater systems, as well as general facility maintenance in industrial and commercial environments. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive team with the potential for long-term employment.

Key Responsibilities :

Utility & Mechanical Maintenance :

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on water, sewer, and stormwater systems, including pumps, pipelines, valves, hydrants, and manholes.
  • Conduct inspections and diagnostic testing (pressure / flow tests) on utility infrastructure.
  • Operate and monitor system equipment such as pumps, compressors, and backhoes.
  • Respond to water main breaks, sewer overflows, leaks, and other utility disruptions.

General Facilities Maintenance :

  • Perform repair and maintenance tasks in commercial / industrial buildings including :
  • Lighting and fixture replacements
  • Basic plumbing (flush valves, sinks, etc.)
  • Drywall repair and painting
  • Door and lock hardware repairs
  • Pressure washing
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot minor electrical, HVAC, and plumbing issues.
  • Support & Helper Tasks :

  • Assist in preventative maintenance : painting, mechanical assembly, and cleaning.
  • Follow blueprints and instructions for mechanical work.
  • Assemble and install pumps and mechanical fittings.
  • Work safely in confined spaces and at heights up to 30 feet.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Florida driver's license (Class A or B CDL preferred)
  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors in all weather
  • Comfortable working around hazardous materials (training and PPE provided)
  • Preferred Experience & Skills :

  • 2+ years in utilities maintenance, plumbing, or commercial facility repair
  • Experience with water distribution and wastewater systems is a strong plus
  • Proficiency in hand tools, power tools, and mechanical / electrical troubleshooting
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics
  • Hazmat experience a plus
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
