Akkodis is seeking a Principal Chemical Sensor Engineer for a Direct Hire job with a client in Fairport, NY. You will be the chemical / gas sensors authority for the design and development of our next generation sensors for the energy / utility industry. You will propose high-level design concepts for discussion and clarification, applying statistical analysis to data sets during software development. You will be involved in the product development life cycle including requirements specification, design, validation, verification, and deployment. Analytical chemist needed with expertise in gas chromatography, photoacoustic, or laser / infrared spectroscopy for dissolved gas. Preference for candidates with product development and instrumentation experience, not just research background.
Rate Range : $175,000 / year to $190,000 / year; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Relocation assistance is available.
Principal Chemical Sensor Engineer job responsibilities include :
- Applies extensive expertise and analysis in chemistry and chemical engineering for the development of gas sensors technology
- Identify technology gaps that address present and future business needs.
- Effective leadership skills including empowering, mentoring, feedback, problem identification and problem resolution
- Accurately sizes and schedules complex projects, anticipates engineering and cross functional risks; drives alternatives / recommend actions to remove risks
- Interfaces with major customers and third-party vendors to explore use of new technologies as possible customer solutions
- Sets functional discipline direction, methods, and practices
- May initiate own assignments aligned with business strategy
- Develops specifications for products / processes in conjunction with marketing
- Regularly contributes to key technical decisions, technology, process and product planning
- Define system requirements, perform sensors measurements, incorporate system integration, and support system architecture during product design
- May lead major research or product / process development projects consisting of multiple modules or sub projects which may require the use of sophisticated project planning techniques
- Develops key customer contacts in the industry
Desired Qualifications :
PhD in Chemistry, or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering with 10 + years of product development and laboratory R&D experience. May have articles / papers published in trade / technical journals. Industry background flexible : pharmaceutical, medical device, oil & gas, steel, chemical, or energy. Also, experience in product development and release required.Proven expertise in product development, focusing on chemical and gas sensors or similar productsExperience in productizing idea from Research phase to Production. Experience with any of the following is a plus - Dissolved gas analysis, Data visualization tools, lasers, spectroscopy, Gas chromatography, or PAS technologies, electronics, hardware design, or Fiber Optics.Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision with drive for resultsSeasoned project management and leadership skillsDeep understanding and knowledge of Physics and the chemistry of sensors.Experience improving an organization's technical capabilities for next generation products and product linesDemonstrated ability to consistently meets commitments and initiates action to assure others meet commitmentsFunctional leader of requirements specifications and architecture developmentExperience in performing a Design of Experiments (DoE) study and statistical data analysis.Familiarity with various gases and gas handling techniques, including understanding of gas flow and pressure measurementsKnows / contacts technical peers in field of expertise in order to meet business objectivesIf you are interested in this role, then please click APPLY NOW.
