Education: Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Home Health Aide (HHA) is required, or completion of at least one semester of nursing school. A current BLS/CPR certification is mandatory before engaging in patient care activities.
Experience and Training: Successful completion of on-the-job training in sterile technique, sterile field maintenance, instrument care (including obstetrics and surgery), as well as EKG and phlebotomy training in emergency settings is expected. Previous exposure to a medical environment is preferred.
Requirements: Basic to moderate computer skills are necessary, especially for telesitter duties. Strong communication abilities, a calm demeanor in stressful situations, and a compassionate, empathetic approach to patient care are essential. Physical demands include occasional heavy lifting (over 100 lbs) and standing or walking for most of the day.
