Lead Custodian
Job Summary
The Lead Custodian inspects, guides, instructs, and performs service work of routine difficulty in custodial and light maintenance services; organizes and schedules daily functions of custodians.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Assist Custodian Manager with day-to-day scheduling and inspection of custodial crew cleaning services.
Organize, assign, and participate in custodial and light maintenance work.
Ensure cleanliness of restroom, basin, stools, urinals, and other sanitary facilities daily.
Inspect for and stocks dispensers with paper towel, tissue and other paper products.
Ensure maintenance of outside areas by sweeping, hosing off walkways and picking up litter.
Vacuum and clean carpet on a daily basis or as needed.
Sweep and mop daily, strips off old wax, applies new wax, polishes floor with electric buffer.
Empty ashtrays and trash receptacles, dust office desks, chairs, and reception area on a daily basis or as needed.
Clean walls, windows, doors, and shelves.
Assist in moving furniture and other equipment.
Orders supplies and equipment as authorized.
Makes sure buildings are secure before leaving.
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of :
Procedures, materials, and equipment used in custodial work;
Occupational hazards and required preventative measures;
Methods, practices, tools and materials used in a variety of trades;
Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and / or a willingness to learn.
Skills and Abilities :
Delegate assignments and coordinate activities;
Train and lead of subordinates;
Plan and carry out work schedules independently;
Exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of surfaces;
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public;
Operate powered automatic scrubbers and buffers;
Work out doors under varying weather conditions;
Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;
Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.
Education, Certifications and Experience Required
High School Diploma or GED, plus three (3) years custodial experience; and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
AND
Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License.
Special Requirements :
This position will require the incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends.
Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card or be able to obtain the Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination from this position.
