Position Summary
We are seeking a clinically driven and patient-centered Specialty Pharmacist to support our rheumatology practice at the clinic. This role focuses on direct patient care, medication access, and collaboration with clinic staff to optimize specialty medication use and outcomes. You will serve as a clinical resource for patients and providers, helping to ensure a high-touch, culturally responsive pharmacy experience. The ideal candidate excels in a fast-paced clinic environment, managing competing priorities with professionalism and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense & Verify Prescriptions: Accurately fill and verify prescriptions in accordance with state and federal regulations, ensuring timely delivery to patients.
- Insurance Support & Cost Navigation: Assist in reviewing insurance benefits, resolving third-party rejections, and coordinating financial assistance to minimize patients out-of-pocket costs.
- Clinical Support: Provide counseling and education on medication use for specialty medications used in rheumatologic conditions (e.g., RA, PsA, lupus). Monitor for adherence, drug interactions, and therapeutic duplications.
- Care Team Collaboration: Actively collaborate with providers, nurses, and case managers to address prescription issues, support prior authorization efforts, and ensure the selection of appropriate therapeutic options.
- Dispensing Operations: Support daily dispensing workflow and intake coordination. Participate in quality improvement discussions and assist with operational needs as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors (RPh) or Doctoral (PharmD) degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university
- Pharmacist license in good standing in Florida
- 2+ years of pharmacy experience
- Strong understanding of pharmacy billing, adjudication, and patient assistance workflows
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in specialty pharmacy, particularly with rheumatologic medications
- Familiarity with pharmacy software (e.g., PioneerRx, Liberty)
- Experience in direct patient care within a clinical setting
- Proficient in Spanish
- Technologically proficient and eager to learn new systems
