UPMC is hiring a Professional Staff Nurse (RN) for our Cardiac Rehabilitation Center in Hanover . This is a part-time position, working 48 hours per pay period across three 8-hour shifts per week. Shift times vary between 6 : 45 AM to 3 : 15 PM and 9 : 00 AM to 5 : 30 PM. There are no weekend or holiday requirements.

We’re looking for an experienced and compassionate RN to care for outpatient cardiac patients recovering from events such as heart attack, open-heart surgery, cardiac stenting, and heart failure. Patients typically remain in our program for 2–3 months, allowing staff to build strong relationships and see the impact of their care over time. Nurses in this role work closely with fellow RNs to guide patients through exercise and education that supports their recovery.  A minimum of three years of nursing experience with cardiac patients is preferred, along with strong cardiac rhythm experience.

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse is a member of the care delivery team. The Professional Staff Nurse is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Professional Staff Nurse has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of nursing care. The Professional Staff Nurse manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The Professional Staff Nurse establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Professional Staff Nurse demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.

Responsibilities :

Actively contributes to quality improvement initiatives, identifies opportunities, and promotes patient satisfaction through evidence-based practices.

Builds and maintains positive, collaborative relationships with healthcare teams, patients, and families in a complex environment.

Applies strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to patient care and leads others in nursing processes.

Demonstrates physical stamina and dexterity necessary for patient care activities including lifting, positioning, and mobility.

Uses adult learning principles to educate patients, families, students, and staff, fostering open communication and continuous improvement.

Develops patient-centered care plans that address clinical, social, safety, and psychological needs, coordinating care with physicians effectively.

Communicates clearly and comprehensively to ensure seamless care coordination and promotes patient safety and satisfaction.

Commits to ongoing professional development, shared governance, and teamwork to enhance practice quality and adapt to change.

• Minimum six months experience preferred.
• Cardiac experience highly preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and / or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his / her assigned unit as specified below.
• They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his / her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances :

UPMC approved national certification preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Graduate nurses must complete licensure examination within SIX MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 6 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.
