Job description

Location : Matteson, IL

The Human Resource Manager will oversee a broad range of HR functions and lead a team of associates to ensure operational excellence. This role is responsible for driving business plans, ensuring compliance, and fostering community engagement.

Overview

The Human Resource Manager reports directly to the Director, People, and plays a critical role in supporting leadership with strategic HR initiatives, compliance, and employee engagement. This position is key to shaping our people strategy, supporting associate development, and fostering a culture aligned with our values.

What you’ll do

  • Communicate effectively with individuals and groups—both verbally and in writing—including customers, suppliers, and associates.
  • Serve as a community liaison by participating in local organizations and charitable activities and champion company-sponsored programs and events.
  • Supervise and manage associates by providing direction, monitoring performance, delivering feedback, and supporting development.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with logistics and company quality and safety standards, policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Investigate and resolve associate, customer, and supplier concerns using sound judgment or by consulting others.
  • Oversee and manage daily HR functions including benefits, hiring, transfers, terminations, payroll, and associate relations programs.
  • Ensure compliance with company HR policies and local, state, and federal laws and regulations by managing HR documentation and systems.
  • Advise on, research, and resolve HR-related issues and analyze data to support HR business decisions.
  • Manage multiple priorities, maintain documentation, and ensure procedural compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

Bachelor's Degree in business or a related field and 2 years' HR Generalist experience (e.g., payroll, workers compensation, benefits) with at least one year supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing employees; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees OR 1 year’s experience as a Walmart Logistics Human Resources Area Manager or Walmart Human Resources Office Manager supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing associates; managing associate workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of associates, including dealing with employment compensation / payroll processing, employee relations, recruiting / staffing, organizational planning, and / or training and development programs OR 3 years' experience supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing employees, managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees including one year of experience managing human resource processes (e.g., staffing, payroll, workers compensation, benefits).

Associates will be required to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (for example, Academy trainings, Open Door trainings, etc.).

    Salary : The annual salary range for this position is $84,000.00-$126,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) based on location.

    Benefits, compensation, and eligibility details are subject to change and may depend on job classification and length of employment. Live Better U is a company-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam’s Club facilities. Programs range from high school completion to bachelor’s degrees, including English Language Learning and short-form certificates. Tuition, books, and fees are completely paid for by Walmart.
