Location : The primary place of performance is on-site, at 849 International Dr., Linthicum, MD, 21090 - Suite 320. Resources must reside in the DMV area. No teleworking will be permitted ; based on assignment and team needs.
Position Description : The Senior Systems Engineer must be able to analyze information requirements, evaluate problems in workflow, organization, and planning. The individual in this role develops appropriate corrective action and provides daily supervision and direction to staff.
- Administer and maintain the Informatica platform, including PowerCenter, Data Quality, and Master Data Management components, ensuring availability, reliability, and performance
- Collaborate with data engineers and technical teams to optimize the performance and scalability of ETL processes, ensuring efficient data processing and minimal resource contention
- Implement and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices within the Informatica platform to uphold data integrity, security, and compliance with relevant regulations
- Manage dependencies between Informatica components and other applications / tools within the shared platform environment, ensuring seamless integration and interoperability
- Develop and implement robust monitoring solutions to track the health and performance of Informatica processes, enabling proactive issue identification and resolution
- Implement version control and change management processes for Informatica artifacts, facilitating traceability and auditability of changes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and provide technical guidance on Informatica-related initiatives. Communicate effectively to ensure alignment with organizational goals
- Install, configure, and upgrade Informatica PowerCenter components, including Integration Service, Repository Service, and PowerCenter clients
- Manage Informatica repositories, including user and security administration, backup and recovery, and version control
- Monitor and tune Informatica ETL processes for optimal performance, addressing resource contention issues and ensuring efficient utilization of shared resources
- Collaborate with data engineers and developers to optimize Informatica mappings, workflows, and transformations for performance and scalability
- Develop and maintain Informatica monitoring dashboards and alerts to proactively identify and resolve performance, stability, and observability issues
- Coordinate with database administrators to ensure proper database configurations, indexing, and partitioning strategies for efficient data loading and querying
- Implement and maintain Informatica's high availability and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity and data protection
- Provide training and support to Informatica developers and users, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards
- Stay up-to-date with Informatica product releases, patches, and updates, and plan and execute upgrades as necessary
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address data integration challenges, dependencies, and change management requirements within the shared platform environment
Education : This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or other related scientific or technical discipline. (Note : A Master's degree is preferred.)
General Experience : The proposed candidate must have at least six (6) years of experience in systems engineering.
Eight-plus (8+) Years of Admin experience and 3-5 years of experience as an Informatica Admin, with hands-on experience in Informatica BDM, AXON administration, configuration, and optimizationStrong understanding of ETL processes, data integration concepts, and data warehousing principlesProficiency in SQL, scripting languages (e.g., Unix shell, PowerShell), and database administration tasksExperience with performance tuning, troubleshooting, and monitoring Informatica ETL processes and workflowsKnowledge of data governance principles, data quality management, and data security best practices.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholdersFamiliarity with agile development methodologies and project management practicesSpecialized Experience : The proposed candidate must have at least three (3) years of experience in the supervision of system engineers, and demonstrated use of interactive, interpretative systems with on-line, real-time acquisition capabilities.
