    About Our Branch

The Community Technology Center (CTC), located in the Central Library, is the technology access and training hub for Denver Public Library.. The Community Technology Center consists of a technology classroom, a digital media conversion station, an ideaLAB makerspace, and a large public access computing area with 100+ computers. The CTC offers a wide variety of group and individual training opportunities on topics ranging from using a mouse to 3D printing. The Central Library is located in downtown Denver and welcomes a wide variety of customers of all ages and backgrounds. The CTC strives to create an inclusive environment for people to connect with and learn about technology. In a single shift, CTC staff might help someone create their first email address or record their own song. In addition to offering technology programs at the Central Library, CTC staff also offer tech training at other DPL branches and local community organizations.

    About Our Position

DPL is hiring a full-time (40 HR) Library Programming Associate for the Central Library. In this position, you will create positive experiences for library customers by providing programming and outreach designed to educate and promote library technology usage to a wide variety of audiences. The CTC is committed to serving everyone in our community and prioritizes reaching those that are the most digitally isolated, including unhoused people, those navigating mental and physical health issues, immigrants, refugees, vulnerable youth, and older adults. You will provide excellent trauma-informed customer service while demonstrating integrity and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and stewardship. You will collaborate with the CTC Supervisor and colleagues to ensure high-quality customer service including at busy public service desks, programming, community engagement, and outreach. You will plan, design, implement, and evaluate programs and events on a regular basis for families and children of all ages. You will develop and implement customer and staff technology training, instruction plans and materials.

Your time will be split between staffing our busy public service desk, our all-ages makerspace, and providing technology training on a variety of technology topics for customers and staff. Our technology training might be one-on-one, in a group class, or workshop setting. Our ideaLAB makerspaces are designed to be approachable and accessible to everyone where our LPA is a facilitator and peer, learning alongside our customers. This position will include travel around the Denver Metro area to other DPL branches and community partner sites. Our classes and creative technology workshops are developed and implemented collaboratively with other programming staff on the CTC team, at the Central Library, and across the DPL system. The current schedule for this position is Sunday through Thursday, with the possibility of including evening hours in the future.

Your excitement for this work matters just as much as your resume.
