Medical Receptionist - Full Time Days

A Brief Overview :

Functions as a member of the Practice team working in both Front and Back Office Clerical and Clinical services.

What you will do :

• Answers phone, schedules patient appointments in strict adherence to physician schedule, keeps abreast of physician’s overall routine schedule in order to contact physician with messages when he / she is not in the office. Assures that all messages are communicated accurately.
• Greets patients in a friendly and professional manner.
• Obtains completed registration forms for each new patient.
• Updates demographic profile at each patient visit.
• Collects payment for services rendered at the time of appointment and for any past due balances.
• Processes requests for patient medical records and / or patient information during office sessions (i.e., patient records, diagnostic test results, other healthcare facilities).
• Reschedules patient appointments as needed (i.e., physician unavailable, delay in appointment schedule, cancellation of physician session).
• Activate and deactivate phone service at the beginning and end of clinic session.
• Responsible for reviewing the physician on-call schedule with the phone service at the end of clinical hours (i.e., Monday - Friday and weekend hours).
• Responsible for delivery of messages to staff throughout the day.
• Review and / or update patient insurance information.
• For managed care patients, follows established protocols for necessary authorizations from the patient for scheduled office visit.
• Depending on the practice, may obtain pre-authorization for various procedures ordered by the physician for individual patients, schedules the patient for the service.
• Distributes correspondence and patient information from patient medical records in accordance with established policies. Photocopies and processes forms.
• Opens, date stamps and distributes mail. Pulls medical record for all diagnostic test results and consults received, attaches mail to the chart for physician review. Performs follow-up required by physician when chart is returned.
• May be requested to substitute for other office personnel as trained.
• Adheres to Compliance Plan.
• Any other assigned duties by physician or manager.

Pay Range : $16.00 / hour - $20.00 / hour.
