Position Title : Physician / Orthopedic Surgeon

Position Summary : The physician will join the Valor Health Medical Group, a Critical Access Health System and multi-specialty medical group. The incumbent will provide medical services within their scope of licensing, training, and credentialing for a general orthopedic physician – assess and treat various conditions, examine patients, obtain medical histories, order and perform diagnostic tests, counsel patients on diet, hygiene, and preventive health care, coordinate treatment with other specialists, act as a healthcare advocate, and admit appropriate patients that need ongoing care.
Principal Functions and Responsibilities
- Examine, assess, diagnose, and treat patients in accordance with one’s training, specialty, and privileges.
- Hold clinic and see patients according to a set schedule per contracted face-to-face time.
- Perform a variety of cases in the operating room according to specific background and privileges.
- Offer non-surgical treatment options to patients to address chronic conditions.
- Treat acute illnesses in a compassionate manner.
- Work in conjunction with orthopedic care team to achieve coordinated care that is perceived as top notch by patients.
- Listen carefully to patients, simplify complex medical information, and clarify treatment choices.
- Network with area providers to quickly build practice.
- Act in a way that promotes and enhances the overall health of the patient.
- Accurately and timely document for medical necessity, as defined by Medical Staff Rules, patient information, medical interventions, and plan of care.
- Appropriately order diagnostic tests and conduct patient follow up as needed.
- Supervise and provide guidance and applicable delegation to clinical staff.
- Address mental health and substance abuse in context of the care provided.
- Promote a patient-centered model of care by collaborating with the patient, specialists, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Complete forms and records requiring physician certification on behalf of patients.
- Participate and review internal policies related to orthopedics.
- Round on inpatients admitted at Valor Health and discharge or transfer appropriately.
- Actively participate in Risk, Compliance, Quality, Performance Improvement, Patient Safety, and Infection Prevention programs.
- Follow Organization Policy, Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, and stay up to date on continuing medical education and certifications.
- Collaborate with nearby care facilities as appropriate directing ongoing medical care needs.
- Fulfill duties and responsibilities as a member of the Valor Health Medical Staff.
- Other duties as assigned in support of the organization.
Position Qualifications / Requirements
MD or DO.Licensed in the State of Idaho, DEA Registration, Idaho Pharmacy.Board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons within 3 years of employment.Board-certified in Specialty (preferred).Active BLS and ACLS.At least four years of experience preferred.Practice of medicine within scope of license, training, credentials, and standard of care.Maintains continuing medical education as a lifelong learner.Demonstrates leadership and exhibits highest level of character and respect for others.Practice medicine in accordance with Valor policies and procedures and medical staffing guidelines.Demonstrate ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients appropriate to their age, especially elder care.Asks significant questions, listens, and manifests a strong curiosity.Uses a systemic approach and integrative medicine.Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Direct patient care. General health care environment exposure to patient conditions. Office work. Optional call. Standing, walking, bending, stooping, sitting, hand eye coordination, speaking. Lifting 50 lbs. Carry / maneuver patients.
