Shape the backbone of Joint Command and Control—develop and maintain robust back-end services that power GCCS-J, the DoD’s trusted platform for mission-critical situational awareness.
A Day in the Life – What You’ll Do
- Support sustainment and modernization of the Global Command and Control System – Joint (GCCS-J), the DoD’s C2 system of record
- Design, implement, and optimize secure, scalable, and high-performing back-end applications supporting situational awareness, infrastructure, and intelligence product areas
- Write and maintain RESTful web services and integrate with streaming / messaging platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, and others
- Architect and manage diverse database solutions (SQL, NoSQL, GeoSpatial, Key / Object pair) to support dynamic data-driven applications
- Collaborate across geographically dispersed teams to ensure delivery of resilient solutions on schedule and within budget
- Lead independent technical investigations, provide technical advice, and assist the Government in integrating GCCS-J functionality into new baselines
- Follow Agile development processes across the full lifecycle : requirements, design, implementation, test, and sustainment
- Ensure compliance with DoD security standards, coding best practices, and performance requirements
Required Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related technical field
Experience :
3-5+ years of professional software development experienceAdvanced proficiency in Java and Object-Oriented Design / ProgrammingProficiency in RESTful web services developmentExperience with at least one messaging / streaming platform (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, GraphQL, NATS, SSEs, WebSockets)Familiarity with multiple database types (SQL, NoSQL, GeoSpatial, Key / Object pair)Experience in back-end application architecture and designStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate in team environmentsU.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain a final Secret clearancePreferred Qualifications
Experience with Spring Boot microservices developmentFamiliarity with build tools (Maven, Gradle, Jenkins)Hands-on experience with IDEs (VSCode, Eclipse, NetBeans)Knowledge of JavaScript, Node.js, and modern development practicesExperience with automated testing (JUnit, Jest, Robot, Selenium)Exposure to Linux / Windows system administration, Docker, OCI containers, and orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm)Familiarity with C2 Systems, DoD STIGs, secure coding standards, SonarQube, and FortifyKnowledge of networking, debugging, and performance testing techniquesExperience with databases, design, and structuresUnderstanding of Agile methodologies and collaboration with Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)Ability to apply mathematics and statistics to software algorithmsBackground in military intelligence, imagery, or strategic planningActive Top-Secret clearance highly preferredIf this sounds like you, we’d love to talk.
