Responsibilities

Develop high-quality, reliable detections based on both known adversary behaviors and original hypotheses.

Research attacker tradecraft and translate findings into effective detection logic.

Design, test, and tune machine learning–based anomaly detection models to identify behavioral anomalies.

Build and maintain detections across Windows, macOS, Linux, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Develop detections leveraging signals from enterprise security controls (e.g., Azure AD, Zscaler, MDE..)

Contribute to “Detection as Code” workflows, ensuring all rules are version-controlled, tested, and well-documented.

Continuously refine existing detections to improve fidelity and reduce false positives.

Collaborate with threat intelligence, red team, and incident response partners, while independently driving detection innovation.

Document detection logic, coverage, and assumptions to support downstream teams.

Qualifications

4 - 5 Proven years of experience in detection engineering, threat hunting, or SOC analysis.

Strong investigative mindset — ability to generate hypotheses and proactively identify gaps in detection coverage.

Hands-on experience with SIEM / SOAR platforms (Elastic preferred).

Familiarity with machine learning techniques or statistical anomaly detection.

Deep understanding of OS internals (Windows, macOS, Linux), including logging and persistence mechanisms.

Experience with cloud security monitoring across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Familiarity with logs and telemetry from identity, endpoint and network security platforms (e.g., Azure AD, Zscaler, MDE...)

Proficiency in scripting or query languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, EQL, ESQL).

Working knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and adversary simulation frameworks.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
