The Platform Product Group engineers are tasked with creating a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform that operates efficiently and effectively. Our teams are responsible for foundational systems critical to Coinbase’s operations, including areas like Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory, and more.

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer on the Risk Platform team, you will be engaged in building scalable, intelligent, and resilient systems that proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks to safeguard our customers’ assets and combat fraudulent activities. Your contributions will be vital in our journey to become the most trusted and user-friendly platform in the industry.

Key Responsibilities :

Design and develop distributed systems.

Provide technical guidance to teams, working closely with management and stakeholders to establish strategic roadmaps.

Oversee project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with your technical expertise.

Mentor and train team members on design principles and coding standards.

Design and implement essential infrastructure components utilized by engineering teams in production (e.g., dynamic configuration, secrets management, container orchestration).

Produce high-quality, well-tested code that meets customer requirements.

Qualities We Are Looking For :

8+ years of experience in software engineering.

Proven experience in architecting and developing solutions to complex problems with high impact.

Genuine passion for building an open financial system that unites the world.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience developing high-reliability financial or security systems.

Familiarity with online fraud prevention systems.

Experience in a rapidly growing company environment.

Background in decomposing monolithic systems into microservices.

Familiarity with technologies like Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, and Postgres.

Experience related to cryptocurrency and onchain activities, including interactions with Ethereum addresses and dApps.

Pay Transparency Notice : Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range from $218,025 to $256,500 USD. Full-time offers at Coinbase also include target bonuses, equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
