Desktop Support Analyst INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATE

$4,935.00 - $8,740.00 per Month. Minimum salary for new to state candidates will be the classification minimum or the alternate range minimum.

Under the general supervision of an IT Supervisor II in the HQ IT Operations unit, the incumbent serves as a Desktop Support Analyst supporting business operations in the Sacramento Metropolitan Offices.

Major Functions

The incumbent provides administrative and technical support on computers, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, servers, storage arrays, backup systems, printers, the Local Area Network, and telecommunications services. The incumbent performs activities of the System Development Life Cycle : analysis, design, build, test, maintenance, and operations. The incumbent also supports all phases of end?user device life cycle management including procurement, deployment, installation, configuration, maintenance, and operations. The incumbent provides end?user training and collaborates with peers and management to update standards, processes, and procedures.

Eligibility

Eligibility is determined by score on the Information Technology Associate exam. New to state candidates must be on the state examination list.

Working Conditions

Position location : 1120 N Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment. The position may be eligible for telework as per Caltrans policy. Business travel may be required. Commute to the headquarters location is expected.

Minimum Requirements

  • Salary ranges : $4,935.00 $6,614.00 (A), $5,424.00 $7,270.00 (B), $5,930.00 $7,947.00 (C), $6,521.00 $8,740.00 (D). New to state candidates will receive the minimum salary or alternate range minimum.

  • Experience providing administrative and technical support of computers, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem?solving skills.
  • Experience providing world?class customer service.
  • Communication skills to explain technical information to technical and non?technical audiences.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in desktop support.
  • Experience with enterprise software deployment, imaging, and patch management tools (e.g., Intune, SCCM).
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy.
  • Experience providing remote technical support in hybrid or virtual environments.
  • Familiarity with ITSM practices and enterprise ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments with accuracy and customer satisfaction.
  • Effective teamwork and independent work capability.
