ELEMENTARY TUTOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary :  Elementary Tutors are responsible for providing supplemental practice through tutoring children in kindergarten through fourth grades to develop early literacy skills. Each day elementary tutors will use a prescribed literacy program to deliver tutoring in small groups to students. This position reports to the Tutor Supervisor.

Qualifications :

• Valid Ohio Educational Aide permit or teaching license
• Interest in education, specifically helping young children develop early literacy skills
• Effective interpersonal skills with children and adults
• An affinity for supporting students as individual learners
• Sound student and classroom management skills
• Ability to improvise and problem solve
• Experience with technology‐integration in the teaching and learning process
• Effective in an interdisciplinary, teamed environment
• Entrepreneurial spirit
• Dedication to the mission of assuring student learning and achievement

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands, and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employees must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

The noise level in this work environment is quiet to loud depending on the activity and location.
