Yeast Metabolic Engineer

Precise Systems is seeking an experienced Metabolic Engineer for the development of novel chassis strains in non-conventional yeast (i.e. Yarrowia lipolytica , Pichia pastoris , Kluyveromyces marxianus ). The ideal candidate will have direct experience in the design, construction, and optimization of complex pathways in non-model yeast as well as have acquired experience with analytical techniques necessary to support their success. This work will be done at DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center (CBC), the primary Department of Defense technical organization for non-medical chemical and biological defense.

All work is performed on site, in Edgewood, MD.

Duties :

• Carry out hands-on construction of non-conventional yeast strains of interest in a BSL-2 laboratory setting
• Perform validation of assembly and function
• Clearly and completely communicate findings
• Thoroughly document progress through use of laboratory notebooks or similar record keeping systems
• Participate in data analysis, troubleshooting, and further development as needed
• Contribute to the preparation of documents, presentations, data packages, etc.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $76,709.46 to $103,428.48 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.
