Position Summary :

This position will provide Career Awareness and preparation services for middle and high school students in Morgan County Schools as a part of the requirements of the Pathway to Pipeline Innovative School Model Grant. The Pathway to Pipeline project will provide career awareness, support and transition assistance to students as they progress through their middle and high school years.

Duties and Responsibilities :

This position may be assigned any of the following activities, duties, or responsibilities as assigned by the P2P Project Director, Morgan County CTE Director or building level leadership. This list is not a comprehensive listing and may change at any time with or without notice.

Direct Student Services

• Provide direct career advisement and instruction, in-person and virtually
• Contact families to ensure student participation in P2P activities
• Provide a variety of academic materials and resources
• Ensure high standards of professional practice and quality of teaching and learning of subjects while maintaining high flexibility
• Assess, record and report on students' development, progress, goal attainment and behavior
• Encourage and monitor the progress of students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students and school staff regarding students' progress and needs
• Provide counseling and case management services for students and families
• Conduct after school program activities at during Career Awareness Nights, School Transition Nights and other Career Awareness Activities.

Skills and Knowledge

Education and Experience :

Bachelor's degree and teaching experience preferred. Counselor experience a strong plus. Must be willing to become Work Based Learning Certified.

Hours of Work :

This is a full time, 10-month position.

Work Environment :

Office and school settings

Travel :

Travel to various school sites in Morgan County School District. Other travel to colleges / universities and corporations for college visits and job shadowing activities as needed.
