Job Description

The Project Engineer is a junior-level engineering position requiring 5 to 6 years of experience. The Project Engineer must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam and is preparing to take the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) Exam.

The Project Engineer works in a collaborative team environment under the supervision of more senior engineers, performing routine engineering assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles.

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of a senior engineer, perform electrical design calculations and interpret building codes.
  • Document all project communications.
  • Instruct drafters on completing electrical drawings.
  • Prepare electrical engineering evaluations, reports, analyses, and designs for existing and new facilities.
  • Prepare various permit applications and assist with report writing.
  • Participate in site walkdowns with site personnel to determine the scope of work.
  • Design liaison with site personnel on work to be performed.
  • Support construction activities as engineering representative on site.
  • Review contractor's submittals and shop drawing submittals.
  • Research and identify governing criteria, codes, guides, and best practices.
  • Work under the supervision of project managers and senior electrical designers.
  • May be asked to travel to infrequent, short-term out-of-town assignments.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related undergraduate degree).
  • Adheres to LBYD Federal Corporate Values.
  • Non-Technical Skills :

  • U.S. Citizen.

  • Preferred Technical Skills :

  • Basic understanding of Revit.
  • Proficient in Electrical Engineering Design Software (SKM or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of engineering design principles and methods.
  • Knowledge of construction and constructability practices.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards.
  • Physical Demands :

  • Exerts up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
