Job Overview

In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine’s faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department of Radiology is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.

A full-time Data Scientist staff position is available in the Department of Radiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. This position will lead and execute data science initiatives within the Radiology Imaging Core Lab, leveraging experience in medical imaging, data management, and advanced analytics. This role emphasizes strategic leadership in AI integration, cloud-based infrastructure, and cross-functional collaboration to support imaging trials and translational research.

Essential Functions

• Design, develop, and validate data science methods in the domains of AI and machine learning.
• Generate and test prototypes for data exploration, analysis, and validation.
• Design and validate machine learning and AI algorithms, including integration into imaging workflows for metric extraction and clinical insight.
• Collaborate with technical teams to access and transform data needed for analyses.
• Lead team of data specialists in project-specific research tasks.
• Lead the development of data visualization dashboards for partners within UC and externally.
• Manage cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS) and technical repositories using Docker and Git-based systems.
• Develop and maintain systems documentation related to project configurations and visualizations.
• Analyze and recommend appropriate technologies and service options to develop and enhance DSC operations and services.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of relevant experience.

Experience with interactive web application development.

Experience and track record of results in exploratory data analysis and data visualization.

Experience and track record of projects in AI, machine learning, deep learning, and human-centered AI.

Experience supporting proprietary and open source applications, databases, and infrastructure.

Experience supporting cloud-based infrastructure.

Experience and / or training include advanced level experience.

Possess broad and deep knowledge of own area and related areas and contribute through advanced knowledge, skills and experience.
