Responsibilities
The HVAC Foreman leads daily field operations for heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) projects. Working alongside the crew, this role organizes tasks, ensures quality workmanship, enforces safety standards, and communicates with project managers to keep installations on schedule and within specifications.
Key Responsibilities Project Execution
Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems—ductwork, controls, furnaces, heat pumps, and air-conditioning units.
Read and interpret blueprints and project documents to guide the team.
Coordinate delivery and staging of materials, tools, and equipment to meet daily and weekly project goals.
Crew Leadership
Direct and work with HVAC technicians and apprentices on active job sites.
Hold start-of-day briefings, assign tasks, and monitor progress.
Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to less experienced technicians.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
Conduct toolbox talks, perform site safety checks, and report any incidents.
Ensure all work meets local, state, and federal codes.
Quality Control & Communication
Inspect completed work to verify quality and performance standards.
Communicate with the project manager or general contractor about scheduling needs or technical issues.
Address and resolve on-site HVAC concerns quickly to keep projects on track.
Documentation & Reporting
Track crew hours, material usage, and daily progress.
Assist with scheduling inspections and coordinating permit requirements.
Contribute to project close-out activities such as punch-list completion and system start-ups.
Qualifications
Qualifications Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical HVAC training or certification preferred.
Minimum 4+ years of HVAC installation / service experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Experience in residential construction or multi-family dwellings preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
State HVAC license (where applicable).
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, schematics, and installation best practices.
Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficient with mobile workforce apps, basic MS Office tools, and work-order systems.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work is performed at construction job sites and may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and dust.
Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working from ladders or scaffolding.
