Overview

Purchasing Agent at THM DC Warehouse plays a critical role in managing the procurement of goods and services essential for warehouse operations. This position is responsible for managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to maintain optimal inventory levels. The role requires close collaboration with internal departments to understand purchasing needs and align procurement strategies accordingly. The Purchasing Agent will monitor market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and maintain strong vendor relationships. This position helps ensure the business operates efficiently by securing quality products at competitive prices while adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in business, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and vendor management.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP or NetSuite.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and logistics operations.
  • Certification in purchasing or supply chain management (e.g., CPP, CPSM).
  • Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights to optimize purchasing decisions.
  • Responsibilities

  • Process purchase orders and track deliveries to ensure timely receipt of goods.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to forecast demand and manage stock levels.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and prepare reports on purchasing activities.
  • Resolve issues related to delayed shipments, damaged goods, or discrepancies in orders.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and relevant legal regulations.
  • Continuously analyze market trends to recommend improvements in purchasing strategies.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with vendors to secure advantageous agreements.
