Assists a Maintenance Section Supervisor in overseeing work completed by the crews and contractors, which provides a safe driving thoroughfare within a designated geographical area. Leads the work of Transportation Maintenance Crew Chiefs, technical and clerical staff. Work requires responding to emergency notification on an as-needed basis. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Education
High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience
Maintenance Section Assistant I
5 years in roadway maintenance or construction related work. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis . Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Maintenance Section Assistant II
6 years in roadway maintenance or construction related work. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis . Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Position Information
TxDOT's Beaumont District is looking for a Maintenance Section Assistant I or II to join us in our Woodville Maintenance Section. As a Maintenance Section Assistant, you will coordinate materials, equipment, and personnel for roadway maintenance projects. In this role, you will also work closely with the Maintenance Section Supervisor while gaining valuable experience and additional skills in leadership and maintenance work. This is a key role within the section that provides great opportunity for advancement within the orgainization.
Some work requires competence with computer software, email and budgets as well as professional communication and timely responses via phone or email to members of the public, coworkers, safety professionals, and mid to high level management.

Salary Grade / Plan :
Maintenance Section Assistant I (B19) : $48,244 - $76,028 / yearly
Maintenance Section Assistant II (B20) : $51,158 - $81,351 / yearly
