Job Description : The Principal, Contracts Manager is an individual contributor for a large and complex program. The individual selected will support the program by providing contractual guidance and direction as it relates to the execution of the program, business development, and day‑to‑day operations. This role will oversee and execute Bechtel Plant Machinery Inc. (BPMI) Contracts and support compliance with FAR, DFAR, and applicable BPMI contractual documents.

Essential Functions

  • Preparation, negotiation, acceptance and management of contracts including time and materials, firm‑fixed price, fixed price incentive fee, and cost reimbursement.
  • Problem solving : investigate a struggling program, determine the cause of struggles, and identify opportunities to improve the situation.
  • Provide contractual advice and guidance and collaborate with technical, program office, finance, pricing and security organizations for seamless contract administration.
  • Provide knowledge of applicable government regulations and serve as advisor with recommendations on contractual, proposal and business matters.
  • Support proposal efforts including review of contract provisions and proposal responses.
  • Conduct negotiation activity and settlement of provisions, producing sound contract terms and conditions, teaming agreements, contract amendments / modifications, mitigating company risk and supporting company goals.
  • Comply with procedures and systems for contract controls : record management, inputting contract requirements into Cost‑Point and reporting.
  • Coordinate essential activity with legal counsel and obtain necessary approvals for proposal submittals, contract negotiation, award, execution, and close‑out.
  • Work with business development and program departments to support current and future business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field with a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • 10+ years of experience with leadership in contracts management and proposal development, including overseeing large, complex proposals and negotiations.
  • Ability to provide contracts guidance at a technical level while managing administrative aspects of a large complex fixed‑price program.
  • Demonstrated subject‑matter expertise in government contracting.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to develop negotiation strategies and lead a team of mixed disciplines during negotiations.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to proposal preparation, contract negotiation, and FAR, DFAR, ITAR and other government procurement regulations.
  • Position requires U.S. citizen and ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Preferred Additional Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High self‑motivation and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with ability to identify and apply industry best practices.
  • In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $130,500 - $230,000. Compensation may vary based on experience and location.
